After June 30, 2017, WhatsApp will be discontinued on mobile phones with these operating systems and those users with older phones and operating systems would have to upgrade. If you use a smartphone that runs Symbian operating system, you should probably be upgrading your operating system or else start looking for a WhatsApp alternative right now.
The company has made it clear that the BlackBerry (BlackBerry 10), Nokia S40, Nokia Symbian S60, Android 2.1, Android 2.2, Windows Phone 7.1, iPhone 3GS / IOS 6 will not support Whatsapp on this phone’s operating system after this date.
As reported earlier, Whatsapp will end its support and You won’t be able to use WhatsApp on the following platforms for:
- Nokia Symbian S60 after June 30, 2017
- BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 after December 31, 2017
- Windows Phone 8.0 and older after December 31, 2017
- Nokia S40 after December 31, 2018
- Android versions 2.3.7 and older after February 1, 2020
The companies statement reads “These platforms don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future. If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer OS version, or to a newer Android running OS 4.0+, iPhone running iOS 7+, or Windows Phone 8.1+ so that you can continue using WhatsApp.”
